Below is what we sent to Oprah…

I feel as though I work for a male version of Meryl Streep’s character in The Devil Wears Prada as Tory Herring’s work ethic is strong, his expectations high and his demands even higher. He holds 2 doctoral degrees & has spent his career working with people in the area of leadership. The world should hear his stories, business success and personal tragedy.

Business:  Tory and one of his partners have just completed a book, The Brutus Dilemma and Betrayal in the Workplace. The book centers on the rampant problem of individuals talking about, rather than with, others. Sue has a problem with Bob, but talks with Ann about Bob. When Bob hears he asks, “Why didn’t you just come to me?” exactly what Oprah asks Fantasia in a promo. Though often blamed on human nature it isn’t. Imagine the increased productivity of directly engaging a person who can make a difference. The cornerstones of the book are COURAGE and RESPECT, in balance.

Personal: Tory’s daughter, Lamar, fell in love with a boy & believed she was the only person who could help him as he was misunderstood by his parents & forced from his home. She dedicated her life to rebuilding his. Soon, the boy was suspected of theft of household goods, jewelry & firearms & was arrested for possession of illegal substances. The girl pushes on despite her family’s resistance. The boy demands her attention & loyalty, he controls who she sees and when. He took advantage of what girls are taught, to nurture & love.

Her parents receive a call from a local hospital. Lamar tried to save this boy & in his presences, she “accidentally” died.

The Lamar Project has been established to help young adults handle predatory peers. Children should protect each other, communicate with each other, and value themselves. It takes COURAGE to confront a troubled friend and it must be done with RESPECT. Our mission is to reach as many kids as we can, of all ages, to prevent this tragedy from repeating itself.

Let’s tell the story.
